Working principle of globe valve

2014-08-08 Number of attention:

Opening and closing parts (discs) driven by the stem, along the axis of the seat (sealing surface) do a straight-line movement of the valve is called globe valve.

The globe valve is generally composed of driving parts (handwheel), stem, valve body, valve cover, disc (closure) and filling device. The hand wheel is connected with the valve stem, and the valve disc is driven by the valve stem, so that the valve disc moves reciprocating along the axis of the valve seat, so that the pipeline is connected or cut off.

Globe valves are widely used, mainly for high pressure and small caliber occasions, generally only to DN400 (NPS16), larger caliber specifications only for special pipelines. For example, large-diameter stainless steel globe valves are used in large-scale oxygen pipelines because of friction between other valves and electrostatic ignition.

The valve stem generally rotates and lifts, and the handwheel is fixed at the top of the stem. When the hand wheel rotates clockwise, the stem thread rotates downward, the disc sealing surface contacts closely with the seat sealing surface, and the globe valve closes; when the hand wheel rotates counterclockwise, the stem thread is turned up, the disc sealing surface and the seat sealing surface are separated, and the globe valve opens.
